Julie Wilson lives in Salisbury, Wiltshire with her husband, daughter and her 3-legged ginger cat, Hobbes. After various uninteresting jobs she studied art, as a mature student, at Salisbury College, completing an HND in Fine Art in 2003.
Julie has shown work in various local exhibitions, and in 2005 held an exhibition alongside fellow artists Sarah Scott and Jacqueline Gibson. She also sells work regularly in local galleries.
Painting in acrylics or using mixed media techniques, her inspiration comes from natural subjects, particulary trees in the local landscape and the West Country coast. Drawings of hares, executed in coloured pencil, have proved best sellers.
She has produced lino prints of hares and other subjects, enjoying the contrast between working on complex, colourful paintings and the simplicity of monotone prints.
Julie has recently been working on a number of Still Life paintings. She also continues to make lino prints of Hares, and is beginning a series of bird prints, inspired by watching the birds feeding in her garden over the past winter.
Julie's work can currently be seen on sale at Fisherton Mill and The Wiltshire Gallery, in Fisherton Street, Salisbury and at New Hall Hospital, near Salisbury.
